yeltsin death brigades / freedom or boredom
in development

Yeltsin Death Brigades is the grassroots that combine the skinhead/street way of thinking with a powerful social message. They want to emancipate from the social norms of moral hypocrisy and they express it by means of the absurd exaggeration and contrast, criticizing the status quo - the society and themselves. The activity of YDB escapes the common rules, it's difficult to fit it to any format. Interestingly, it is not the deliberate activity but rather unconscious and compulsive.
YDB turns to the times of Yeltsin because in the post-soviet space they find this mental vacuum between the soviet mentality and the mentality of the fledgeling capitalism. People were coming through the massive inner and system transformations, which gave the feeling of chaos that the yeltsinists subversively call 'freedom', for which there is a great longing in todays Russia.
YDB is the formation balancing between joke and seriousness, mockery and criticism, the lack of sensitivity and the 'bad taste'.
YDB is being constantly followed by the Russian federal services. I am following the main protagonists to show the transformation of their struggle and their big desire to change the system that they feel does not belong to them.
